Thank you to children, parents, staff and Board members who made donations towards the building of houses in Cambodia—and in particular the St Aloysius After School care children who raised $1,400-00.  The combined monies resulted in 5 homes for families.  It is difficult to explain the joy and importance for these families to have a house from this                                                       to this

The houses were built in rural villages in the South (near Kep) - these families have no running water or power and live a subsistence life style—several of the families catch crickets in plastic containers, fry them up and sell them by the side of the road or in the nearby markets (to eat—not bad!)

The families are required to save $120.00 towards the cost of the house – this often takes them 3 years to achieve, so you can understand how important the house is to them particularly in the rainy season.

Altogether the group I went with built 20 houses—not easy work in 38 degrees and very humid, but an experience not to be missed.  Please visit their website www.tabitha.org.au if you wish to know more.  On behalf of the Cambodian families   Thank you                       Susan
