This month in the Wilson Room we
have been looking at different aspects of storytelling. We have discovered
ways of writing stories, reading stories and retelling stories through art
and play. The children have enjoyed colouring, working with the dolls
house, making and playing inside "The Zoo" and finding time to sit and share
their favourite stories with friends. Stories provide an escape into an
imagined world. Stories can:
· Change a
person’s mood and relax tension
· Explain
how people feel and behave
· Extend and
deepen understanding of concepts and literacy
· Immerse
children in literacy
· Recognise
letters and sounds
· Provide a
spring board for discussions
· Help
people to recognise and label feelings and behaviours
Experience other cultures.
Thankyou for all the wonderful
books that have come into the room this month. The children have greatly
appreciated new titles. We would like to send a big thankyou to all those
parents that helped us at the Hobart show. We all had a great time. It was
great to have so many dads come along.
Please feel free to share your
child's favourite book with us, as we will be continuing this interest into
November.
Thank you Jess and Laura.
