TABITHA FOUNDATION In early June, Phillip and I are travelling to Cambodia to build houses, with the Tabitha Foundation. My sister Robyn and her husband Ian (builder) have been taking groups for the last 10 years – this is my first trip.
Each of the people in our group (approx 20) pay our own costs and each volunteer $1,500.00 for a house. We also fundraise for extra houses – we are hoping to do up to 30 houses.
The Tabitha Foundation was established in 2002 – the Board and Members work on a voluntary basis and 100% of all donations are sent to support programs in Cambodia and donations over $2.00 are tax deductible. You can visit their website at http://www.tabitha.org.au
Some of our programs are currently organising fundraising events – including a coin train in the Snowflake Room as their mascot Snowflake is making the trip with me.
Some people have expressed a wish to donate a reasonable amount of money – over the page is the donation form, that you can use (credit card or cheque) to enable you to receive a receipt for tax purposes.
If you are using this form, please write Ian Pearton Trip 2010 on the form so the money is allocated to our trip (they have many groups going over).
Please let me know, so I can send you a thank you card and a photo of Snowflake and myself building in Kep.
We will be building in Kep which is in the south of Cambodia – no running water and very hot – good job they are simple houses with my building skills.
This is becoming a great learning curve of our children (even the little ones) to realise not all countries are the same as Australia.
Please call me if you have any questions. Susan
